Springfield Township Library offers educational, fun opportunities for children from birth to age 18, as well as a variety of books, films, & music, available in physical and online formats.
While encouraging reading is the cornerstone of what we do, we also have programs that foster imagination, innovation, & creativity. Your children can build social relationships through music, art, science, history & more!

This lively program introduces children from birth to 2 years old and their caregivers to rhythm, language, and reading through finger plays, clapping and tickle rhymes, songs, puppets, and books in a nurturing and fun environment. The program lasts approximately 20 minutes and is followed by playtime with a variety of age-appropriate toys.
Discover & Grow is a special story time offered for children ages 3 to 5. Each week there will be a story and different learning stations for parents and their children to explore together. Learning stations will focus on pre-literacy skils, pre-writing skils, fine & gross motor skills, counting & sorting and sensory activities. Due to preparation of materials, registration is required!
First Chapter Club is designed for children in 2nd through 5th grade. We will explore different authors and genres of books. Come hear an exciting first chapter and book talks to help light your reading fire!
Need practice reading? Riley will be here to help! He is a certified pet therapy dog and a wonderful listener who enjoy stories of all kinds.
Read any book of your choice from the library… or bring in a favorite from home. Sessions are for 10 minutes.
Children aged 3 1/2 to 5 years old are invited to this interactive program in which we will sing, dance, imagine, learn, and, of course, read stories. A different letter of the alphabet will be featured each week. After story time we will either make a craft or have free play time with age appropriate toys.
Exclusively for our youngest patrons who are not yet walking. Join us for an award winning program for babies! This gentle yet lively story time features bouncing and tickling rhymes, peek-a-boo games, short books, nursery rhymes, and music while the young babies sit comfortably close to their caregivers without the distraction of more mobile babies. The story time is about 15 minutes long followed by a playtime featuring a variety of age appropriate toys. This program is not appropriate for older babies or siblings who are walking.
Children ages 4 to 11 are invited to come listen to a story or two and use their creativity and critical thinking skills to complete a story time design challenge! It is important to register so that the appropriate amount of materials are available.
Join us for an active program for children 2 to 3 1/2 years old and their caregivers that will get everyone excited about the library and reading! Stories, finger plays, puppets, rhymes, dancing, and music liven the atmosphere as concepts such as colors, numbers and letters are introduced. The program is about 25 minutes long and is followed by a playtime featuring a wide variety of age appropriate toys.
